Do you know which Mange your pet has?
Demodectic Mange
Puppy Mange in dogs, Red Mange or Demodex Mange is
facilitated by a low or compromised immune system passed on from the
mother. This is sometimes caused by being taken off of it's mother's
milk too soon, trauma during delivery or poor nutrition. Stress can trigger the onset of Demodectic
Mange in older dogs – stress can be brought on from a multitude of factors
including sickness, shots, stress in the household, family moving,
divorcing, changing jobs and even adding or losing another pet.

Sarcoptic Mange
Sarcoptic Mange is very contagious and can affect
both humans and any other pets you may have in your household. Also
called the "Itch Mange", this type of mange can get out of hand
easily. Re-infestation by these mites is the biggest problem and rarely do
veterinarians tell people how to treat their environment. Plus, they
are prescribing Revolution which is a poison/insecticide and can
take up to 3 weeks or more for it to take effect. If you don't treat
the environment, the sarcoptic mange mites can be picked back up from
their bedding or carpet/grass/dirt areas.
